The managing board now consists of Jens van der Lubbe (Owner / Managing Director) and Gareth Weber (Yard Manager). They are a dynamic, young and experienced team who are eager to put their passions for the sea, sailing and the boating business to work for Curaçao Marine Zone!

Meet Jens van der Lubbe

Jens was born in St. Maarten and raised in Curaçao, father of three, experienced captain and broker, business man, he’s hard to miss at the yard. After his double college major in International Business Management and marketing obtained in the USA he moved back to his home port Curaçao. Speaking Dutch, English, Papiamentu and Spanish fluently, he started in different fields related to the industry; from yacht agent and Captaining to his own marine maintenance and sales products company: Marine Zone. Working throughout the Caribbean successfully bringing Suzuki outboard engines and many other brands to the market.

This year Jens along with his father, local business man Justus van der Lubbe, jumped on the opportunity to purchase all shares of Curaçao Marine with the goal to expand and create a large marine go to center.

Continued career where Jens can combine his profound passion for yachting, fishing and all marine business, is right up his alley. Having grown up on the island and the water his whole life, Jens has many years of experience in the industry and recognition for his years of professionalism and ocean conservation (TBF) efforts. Besides his love for the sea Jens feels that his drive, motivation and work experience all add to his ability to carry out this challenging job. From day one he put his business & market analysis skills, his marina & boating knowledge, his people skills to work to set the course for Curaçao Marine. Though the marina & boatyard already built up a good reputation in the at least 17+ years of operations, he sees the bigger potential from the start.

“As managing director I look forward to grow Curaçao Marine to an even higher level of service and quality. It is important for me to have a good overview of what goes on, in- and outside the business, and what challenges lie ahead.” In his depth analysis of the micro and macro markets that the business covers, it shows where they can improve and further develop the marina and make her exclusive in the area. “We continue to invest in many different aspects of the business. Certainly, all improvements will directly and indirectly benefit the customer experience and by implementing these new plans you can be sure to see many exciting improvements coming up.”

In Jens’s opinion Curaçao, and Curaçao Marine Zone in particular, has quite a few advantages to offer the Caribbean sailing and boating community. From the obvious safe location and expertise to less obvious advantages like the many languages spoken or provisioning options on the island.

He invites you to get in touch and looks forward to welcoming you at the docks!
