A BASE BUILT AROUND YOUR BOAT.

WHY CURAÇAO?

CLOSE TO THE BLUE WATER

Curaçao's location in the southern Caribbean puts sport fishing boats within easy reach of offshore fishing grounds. The island's coastline drops into deep water relatively quickly, creating access to productive blue-water environments without requiring a long run from shore.

The waters around Curaçao are known for a variety of offshore game fish, including Blue Marlin, Sailfish, Mahi-Mahi, Wahoo and Tuna.

For serious anglers, that combination of accessible offshore water, year-round tropical conditions and an established local fishing community makes Curaçao an attractive base for sportfishing.

The Fish

Curaçao’s offshore waters offer an impressive variety of pelagic game fish, attracting anglers in pursuit of some of the Caribbean’s most prized species. Blue Marlin, Sailfish, Mahi-Mahi, Wahoo and Tuna are among the fish encountered around the island, each bringing its own character and challenge to the offshore experience. From powerful runs to spectacular surface strikes, these fish are part of what makes sportfishing around Curaçao so exciting.

SPORTFISHING

COMMUNITY

Sportfishing is part of Curaçao's boating culture.

Throughout the year, local crews and visiting anglers head offshore in pursuit of pelagic game fish, while tournaments bring boats, captains, crews and anglers together on the water.

The island's Blue Marlin tournament tradition is one of the highlights of the local fishing calendar, attracting competitive crews and celebrating the sport that has become part of Curaçao's maritime identity.

Whether fishing competitively, chasing a personal best or simply spending a day offshore with friends and family, the experience begins with a boat that is ready to go.

Curaçao has a long-established deep-water Fish Aggregating Device (FAD) program, first introduced in 1993 and continuously developed over the years. Today, the island is expanding its network of FADs, creating additional productive areas for pelagic species such as Mahi-Mahi and Tuna.

The latest FAD designs incorporate modern technology, including radar reflectors, lighting and Automatic Identification System (AIS) tracking, allowing their positions to be monitored offshore. Curaçao has also shared this expertise beyond its own waters, supplying FADs to neighbouring Sint Maarten to support local fisheries.

Combined with modern sonar, GPS, radar and fish-finding technology onboard, these developments add another layer to the way crews navigate and read the offshore environment.

KEEP THE BOAT READY FOR THE NEXT TRIP

For a sportfishing yacht, time on the water matters. Curaçao Marine Zone provides a convenient base for maintenance, repairs, storage and preparation between trips.

Located within Schottegat Harbour, the yard combines dry storage, marina berths, hauling facilities and a range of marine services in one location.

For visiting sportfishing yachts, Curaçao can also serve as a practical stop while exploring the southern Caribbean.

Whether the boat needs a quick service before heading offshore, a larger repair or refit, electronics work, a haul-out, or secure storage between fishing trips, the facilities are designed to keep the boat moving.

BACK ON THE WATER, READY TO FISH.

For a sportfishing yacht, time out of the water is time away from the fishing grounds. Curaçao Marine Zone provides haul-out and launch facilities for sportfishing vessels, with the infrastructure to support everything from routine maintenance to larger repairs and refit work.

The yard’s 60-ton hydraulic Roodberg trailer allows vessels to be safely hauled, positioned in the yard and returned to the water when the work is complete. With maintenance and marine services available on site, owners and crews can take care of the boat while it is ashore and prepare for the next trip offshore.

From a quick haul-out between fishing trips to a more extensive project, the focus is the same: efficient work, careful handling and getting the boat back where it belongs — on the water.

BEFORE. BETWEEN.

AFTER THE TRIP.

Prepare the boat for the offshore run. Check the engines, electronics, batteries, hull and equipment before heading out.

BETWEEN TRIPS

Return to a secure base, restock, wash down, make adjustments and take care of any maintenance that has come up on the water.

AFTER THE SEASON

When it's time to step away from the boat, secure dry storage and take care of larger maintenance, repairs, paintwork or refit projects.

THE GOAL IS SIMPLE
